Birth Dula – Pregnancy and Postpartum Support
A birth doula is a trained and experienced professional who provides ongoing physical, emotional and educational support to a labouring woman before, during and after childbirth. Studies have shown that the presence of a doula can help shorten labour, result in fewer complications and contributes to a more positive birth experience. Additionally, babies are healthier and breastfeed more easily.
Dr Wright‘s own positive experience of home-birthing her first child inspired her to wish to support and empower other women through the childbirth process as a Naturopathic Birth Doula. She aims to provide gentle and caring support, and help couples make informed and empowered choices, so that they too can have beautiful and positive outcomes as they welcome their baby into the world. Dr Wright has experience and is comfortable in all birth settings – home, hospital, birth centre – working alongside midwives, obstetrician/gynaecologists, nurses and other non-labouring partners to provide a safe and comfortable space for the labouring mother. She sees it as a true honour to be invited into such a special time in one’s life, and it’s never lost on her how sacred this time is.
She understands that having someone present at such an intimate time in your life is a big deal. That’s why she encourages you to be in touch for a complimentary meet and greet, so that you can see if you’re a good fit with each other.
